Carla de Freitas Munhoz has obtained her Ph.D degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding at the ‘Luiz de Queiroz’ College of Agriculture (ESALQ), University of São Paulo (Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil), in 2013. Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow at the Genetics Department, at the University of São Paulo. The aim of her postdoctoral project is the characterization of the Passifloraedulis genome with the exploitation of a BAC library (Ped-B-Flav) and the use of long reads sequencing technology (with PacBio sequencing technology).
During her period at the CNRGV (from April to the end of June, 2016), she will isolate gene-rich BAC clones from the Ped-B-Flav library, for PacBio sequencing. Besides, she will take training course for assembling and annotation of BAC sequences. The sequencing data generated will allow her to investigate different genetic and genomic issues concerning the P. edulis, a specie with very few genome data available so far.
