During his second year of his PhD in Plant Genetics and Biotechnology at the University of Bari (Italy) Pasquale Luca CURCI joined the CNRGV technical team for a period of three months from October to December 2012.
His project aims at studying the genetic mechanisms regulating the nitrogen assimilation in durum wheat. He will more specifically focus on the characterization of asparagine synthetase (AsnS) genes. These genes have been shown to be involved in nitrogen metabolism in plants. He will use the wheat genomic BAC libraries and tools available at INRA CNRGV in order to characterize the Triticum durum isoenzymes.
