Dorita Galea, from the University of Malta, spent three weeks at the CNRGV to extract high molecular weight DNA from the sea lavender, Limonium spp., and to develop her project to sequence and compare the genomes of two species of this endemic plant from the island of Malta.
Ms. Galea was trained by Nathalie Rodde in two DNA extraction methods for the production of optical maps and long-reads sequencing. She developps her knowledge in genome assembly using long reads sequences with Stéphane Cauet, specialist in bioinformatics tools at the CNRGV.
The CNRGV welcome students and researchers interested in the field of plant genomics on a regular basis, in the framework of collaborative projects. If you are interested in this type of stay, feel free to contact us.
