| The pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum Scop.) is a very small insect, 2.5 to 4.4 mm long, green apple, with a swollen abdomen. It belongs to the order Homoptera and family Aphididae. It parasitizes many crops and wild family of legumes, including peas, beans, clover and alfalfa. Through its mouthparts modified to form a tube it perforates the host plant until finding a sap-conducting vessels. Thereafter, it won't move anymore and will continuously pump the sap's nutrients. |
