Christelle Chanez, from the Plant Biotechnology lab (ETH Zurich-Institute of Molecular Plant Biology), joined our lab for one week to learn and getting trained in extracting high molecular weight DNA from cassava (Manihot esculenta).

This high quality DNA will be used to create optical maps and finally help our collaborators from ETH Zürich to assemble the genome of four different cassava cultivars.

Meanwhile, she also gained insight in various other techniques and could observe the different steps of the creation of BAC libraries.
